Mobile Imaging Interest Group
In recent years, advances in technology have enabled people to capture, view and share images on-the-go with unprecedented ease and speed, using devices ranging from mobile phones to automobiles. I3A's Mobile Imaging Interest Group (IG) was created to maximize the usability and performance of mobile images and to overcome any barriers created by combining image capture with mobile capabilities. In this IG, a focused group of members identifies new ideas and challenges related to images captured and transmitted via mobile devices, then sets up initiatives to pursue, develop and promote mobile imaging innovations and solutions. These initiatives operate across sectors and benefit multiple audiences, from consumers to vendors of software, hardware and services.
Ongoing initiatives include creating standards and metrics for measuring and testing camera phone image quality (CPIQ); completed initiatives include the effort to maximize interoperability among devices sending and receiving images (WITI).
Camera Phone Image Quality (CPIQ)
CPIQ's goal is to remove poor image quality as the top barrier to the utilization and enjoyment of camera phone images by consumers, and to provide a standardized means of measuring and communicating image quality for vendors. Ultimately, the group will produce a complete set of image quality testing metrics and methodologies, enabling a consumer-oriented image quality rating system.

Wireless Image Transmission Initiative (WITI)
The objective of I3A's very forward-looking Wireless Image Transmission Initiative (WITI) was to investigate the technology, markets and infrastructure of the future of mobile imaging. The resulting white paper, The Road to Wireless Imaging, investigated means to maximize interoperability among a broad array of future wireless, image-enabled products, seamlessly linked to make digital and mobile imaging solutions ubiquitous and easy to use for consumers.
