Internet Imaging Protocol (IIP)

Internet Imaging Protocol (IIP) enables the use of Flashpix on the Internet. IIP takes a Flashpix object and transports it over a network using a request-response protocol. “TIL,” for instance, requests a single tile or ranges of tiles which include coding information.

IIP is extremely flexible and functional as well, and can transport any Flashpix image, including tiles, transform objects and even metadata. The information is transferred over the Internet via CGI or server modules. A user then makes a connection through TCP/ IP sockets and IIP does the rest. If a problem should occur, IIP notifies you via a simple error structure.

This Initiative is no longer open for new participants. If you would like further information, or have interest in starting a new project in this area, please contact us.
