I3A Initiative Intellectual Property Policy

The I3A Initiative IP Policy seeks to achieve the following objectives:

  • Reduce likelihood of blocking patent claims
  • Require upfront known IP disclosure, early & often
  • Encourage agreement up front to minimum RAND terms
  • Encourage development royalty-free specs
  • Facilitate a rapid development process
  • Facilitate development of specifications unencumbered by IP restrictions
  • Provide environment to encourage use of best technology available

Complete overview of IP Policy.  By execution of I3A Membership Application, all members agree to the policy.  I3A requires all Member Companies who wish to participate in an Initiative Group (IG) to submit a signed I3A Initiative IP Policy.
Disclosure & Assertion Form

To be executed by IG Members at periodic intervals throughout development process to disclose and identify known IG Member and third party IP potentially infringed by Initiative Work Product. Additionally, to be executed by all IG Members after maximum 60 day review of final approval of IG scope, requirements, deliverables to assert intentions regarding licensing of their IP. Final opportunity to opt-out.
Technology Contribution Form

To be executed by IG Members at the time of submission a technology proposal for inclusion into the Work Product. Requires declaration of licensing commitment.
I3A Voting Form

To be executed by all Voting IG Members prior to voting on Final Work Product. Represents final disclosure statement from all IG Member participants prior to acceptance of Final Work Product (whether or not they made a specific Technology Contribution).
